When choosing your conductor, there are many different options to choose from. It is important to choose the right solution for the right situation. Choosing the wrong conductor could lead to an underperforming fence, even when you connect the best electric fence energiser.
Electric fence tape is a highly visible conductor for your fence. The product is made out of polywire strains woven together with conductors. These conductors can be made of copper and galvanised steel.
Electric fence tape can last over 25 years. We have seen Gallagher tape fencing which is built 25 years ago and is still lasting.
Off course does the durability depends on the quality of the tape. When looking for a durable fencing tape, quality of the materials is highly important. UV light impacts the durability of the fence tape used. Next to this, the technique used for waving the tape is important. High quality tape has a strengthened edge, to protect from wear and tear.
Maintenance is also impacting the time a tape fence lasts. It is important to keep the tape tentioned and check the quality of the electric fence tape insulators. When your insulators are worn out, they will damage the fencing tape.
Next to this it is important to keep the fence clear from objects and vegetation to ensure a long lasting fence.
Electric fence tape has high conductive threads woven together with polywire strains. The high conductive strains make sure the pulse of the fence energiser runs through the fence. The polywire strains make sure the tape is flexible and highly visible.
The lower the resistance the better the more conductive the fencing tape. If you are looking for a high quality fence tape, you should look for one with a low resistance.
Fencing tape is often used for electric fencing for horses. As horses have lower visibility, tape is more visible which make it saver for horses.
Tape comes in a variety of colours and width. When considering colour, only blue has a relevant application besides easthatics. Blue fencing tape is especially used to scare off wild animals. So if you use the electric fence to scare off wild animals, blue tape is advised.
When considering the width of the fence tape, 12.5mm, 20mm and 40mm are most common. Tape with 12.5mm and 20mm width is often used for mobile fencing as it has a lower weight and les vulnerable for wind compared and to 40mm.
Wind causes the tape to grind against poles and insulators. This results in a faster weraing down of the tape.
For permanent fencing 40mm is most often used. Whith the right insulators, in permanent fencing the tape can be fixed. Fixing the tape lowers the friction between the insulator and the tape.
To ensure you have a durable fence, a proper installation is key. Using the right material is one of the most important tips we can give. Often we see fences tied together with knods and improvised connectors. In the end this does your fence more harm than good.

It is possible to join electric fence tape with the right items. To ensure the best performance of your fence, tape joiners are advised. Tape joiners are designed to connect to ends of tape and creating a large surface for the electric pulse to go from one end to the other.
Tape joiners are made of high conductive material. This lowers teh resistance, resulting in minimal loss of pulse.
Every joiner has its own technique to join the tape. All our joiners come with a description on how to apply them.
We would not recommend splicing electric fence tape. When splicing, the connection between both ends cannot be ensured.
Electric fence tape connectors are use to connect the conductor with the energiser or with another part of the fence. Often connector is also used when a joiner is meant.
Connectors, just like joiners, have a large conductive surface to conduct the energy of the fence. The difference is that connectors are not designed to carry the tension of the fence. It is solely for transferring the pulse from one end, for example the energiser, to another, the fence.
Tape connectors are thé sollution when you would like to connect tape to wire. This connection should be made made between 2 seperate fences. It is not adviced to connect one end of tape to another end of wire.
