The latest version of their 20 watt solar panel, Hotline has had the foresight to incorporate a charge controller as standard, which makes this ideal for general solar electric fencing and as a general purpose portable solar 12v battery charger. The 20W panel is suitable for use with the HLC80, HLC120 and P525 energisers.

Weather permitting, the 20 watt solar panel will keep up with the power requirements of most fencers throughout the entire year and unless the weather is particularly bad or you are using a really powerful energiser it is unlikely that you would ever need do more than top up using your mains charger once or twice during the winter months.

The 20W solar panel is supplied with a robust ground mount that you can hammer firmly into the soil, which is perfect for most electric fence systems and other outdoor applications such as keeping a 12v vehicle battery topped up.

The 20w solar panel and stand is also supplied with the leads necessary to connect to your 12v battery, your other electric fencing connections will remain unchanged. To set up the panel, simply secure the stand to the solar panel and push or hammer the spike firmly into the ground near your energiser, with the panel facing south and at a roughly 30º angle... the aim is to have your panel pointing straight at the sun at noon.

To get the most from your solar panel try to ensure that you choose a site near your fence that is away from any potential shade.
