Corner posts for fencing – stability and flexibility in every turn

Corner posts are the backbone of your fence, providing the necessary stability at every corner and curve. For permanent fences, we recommend using solid wooden posts as corner posts. These are longer than standard line posts and are designed to withstand the high tension forces at the start, end, and corners of the fence. For portable fences, corner posts need to be easy to transport. They should be easy to anchor into the ground while still being able to handle the tension from the conductor materials attached to them.

Different types of corner posts

Wooden Posts: Wooden corner posts (Insultimber) can last up to 30 years and blend well into the landscape. We recommend installing them at a slight angle, tilted away from the fence and its tension. This gives the posts extra stability, ensuring long-lasting durability.

With special corner insulators, you can easily and securely attach conductor materials to the corner posts. Whether used as start or turn insulators, these are made from reinforced plastic or porcelain and are designed to handle high tension loads.

Metal Posts: Metal corner posts, or reel corner posts, are made from galvanised steel, making them ideal for strong portable fencing systems. They feature mounting eyes or pre-drilled holes at different heights, allowing you to easily attach insulators or winding adapters (and later, the appropriate reels). This makes fence installation even easier.

All of our metal corner posts are weather-resistant due to their galvanised finish, and the angled tips ensure they are firmly anchored in the ground. They are strong enough to withstand constant tension from multiple sides. Additional supports are available to provide extra stability, especially useful in difficult or uneven terrain.

Choosing the right length for corner posts

Select the correct length of your corner posts based on the fence height. For fences up to 1 metre in height, corner posts of 2.00 metres are sufficient. For fences up to 1.50 metres in height, we recommend posts of at least 2.50 metres. Additionally, ensure that each corner post is installed at a 5-degree angle opposite the tension direction.
