You can easily purchase your new poultry net with just a few clicks in various lengths, such as 25 metres or 50 metres, and with different ground stakes.Electrified poultry netting has a fine mesh which keeps poultry from breaching out. Choosing electric fencing over non-electrified netting is motivated by protection from predators. The electrified poultry netting is powered by an energiser, which puts a pulse on the netting. This pulse scares predators. Sensitive predators do not even have to touch the poultry netting to sense the pulse. Predators which touch the fence quickly understand the impact it has. Causing the predators from coming close to the electrified poultry netting.
Electric poultry netting is often used for keeping in chicken. Electric fencing for chicken is hard to realise with a conventional electric fence. As conventional electric fences only have horizontal wires, it leaves room for chickens to go underneath the horizontal conductors. The mesh from netting creates a horizontal as well as vertical barrier for chicken. Therefore netting is often chosen as electrified chicken fencing.
A poultry net provides flexibility when designing a run for your animals. These nets are specifically developed for use with chickens, ducks, and geese. The height is perfectly adjusted to the animals, and the mesh size prevents adult birds from slipping through. Also known as chicken nets, they come in various lengths and colours. They not only serve as enclosures but also offer protection from dogs and foxes.
A net is significantly cheaper than a permanent fence made of posts, insulators, and conductor materials. They are also very easy to set up and take down by a single person, usually in just a few minutes. Several nets can be easily connected using the integrated clips at each end, giving you flexibility in the size of the enclosed area. We recommend using a sufficiently powerful fence energizer to ensure safety.
To be able to understand what poultry netting you should buy, different variables are of importance. Firstly, what is the length of the total fence you would like to build? The longer the fence, the lower the resistance of the net should be. Take into account the total length of the electrified poultry netting. As an electrified net cannot be shortened and should be powered over the total length, you should calculate with the total length per connected net. Secondly, what energiser would you like to connect? Stronger energisers are capable of powering a longer fence with a higher resistance.
When choosing a net, you should also consider the mesh size and the stability of the posts. Both factors are crucial for the quality and longevity of the poultry nets. For geese and ducks, the mesh size can be slightly larger. For bantam chickens and chicks, the mesh must be much smaller to prevent them from slipping through. The ideal height is between 80 and 112 cm.
All nets are available in a more affordable version with single spikes. The slightly more expensive version with double spikes is even easier to install and stands more securely, especially on uneven ground.
Due to their design, poultry nets tend to sag slightly. However, you can tighten them a bit during installation. To make the net even more taut, you can install additional plastic posts, ideally spaced a few metres apart. If you require extra stability at the bottom of the net, we recommend using pegs with guy twines to push it firmly into the ground.
